Itinerary

Upon your arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, Himalayan Trail Running’s representative will greet you. You will be dropped off at the hotel, and after checking in, you could walk around Thamel, a popular tourist hub in Kathmandu. Observing the market and some souvenir shopping will freshen your mind. Your guide will brief you about the trip. Overnight in Holy Himalaya at Kathmandu.

Highest Point: 1400m

A difficult but scenic full-day up the Sun-Koshi river valley to the town of Jiri, 187km from Kathmandu. The trail-head of the Everest and our first camp.

Highest Point: 2000m

We Begin to walk to the ridge-top at (2400m) after which the trail drops down to Shivalaya (1800m). After reaching Shivalaya, we make another climb to Sangbadanda (2150m) then to Bhayajyang, a pass at Bhandara. The trail drops down to Likhu Khola and crosses the river at 1580m and on to Kinja. Overnight at Kinja.

Trek begins with a bit of a gradual ascend to Lamjura Pass at 3530m. There you are rewarded with frost and often snow along the trail in winter or with blooming rhododendrons in the spring. The pass is the highest point between Jiri and Namche Bazar, from the top you descended to Tragdobuk (2860m), then to the pretty Sherpa village of Junibesi. Overnight at Junibesi.

We climb to a ridge at 33080m from where Everest slowly begins to appear before your eyes. From Junebesi the trail leads to the hospital and the airstrip at Phaplu as well as the district headquarter and a small market at Salleri. Leaving Salung, we make our descending to the Ringmo Khola followed by a small climb to Ringmo. We see an apple orchard at this spot, the Apple House offers apple juice, pie and rakshi (local spirit). Thereafter, we reach Trakshindo Pass then trail drops down pass the monastery of the same name on a Nunthala. The trail continues descending to the Dudh Koshi where the trail then climbs through several Sherpa villages, terraced fields and forest to Buspa. Overnight at Buspa.

This day we continue a climb from Puiyan to a ridge at 2800m before a gradual ascent to the final ridge, where we climb down to Sukre following the trail towards Phakding. Overnight at Phakding.

We continue along the banks of the Dudh Koshi, crossing this majestic river many times in exciting suspension bridge laden with prayer flags. After entering the Sagarmatha National Park, the trails climb steeply with breathtaking views. Namche Bazzar, known as the getaway to Gokyo and Everest, is home to many quality restaurants, hotels, lodges, shops, money exchange, internet cafes, and a bakery. Namche is the largest village along the entire trail. Thereafter, we will move a little bit up to Thamo. Overnight at Thamo.

Highest Point: 3480m

We climb a ridge for an excellent view both the valley to Thame and up towards Samde and to a river and again climbs steep to the terminal glacier. The trail climbs steeply out of the valley through rhododendron forest, juniper and large conifers start to appear as the elevation increases making the trekking very pristine in springtime. We will reach Mingmo after crossing the Langmuche Khola. The trail passes through Dinjung settlements. The views of Khumbu La and Kapsala are magnificent throughout the day. Overnight at Lunden.

The trek today takes us to one of our main destinations, Gokyo. We trek to the foot of the Rengo-Pass (5360m) and have a couple of sightseeing around Gokyo Lake. There are ample rewards for those who attempt this trip- you get stunning views of the super Gokyo, valley the massive Ngozumpa glacier and an incredible panoramic view of the Khumbu Himalayas, including the giants Everest, Lotse, Nuptse Makalu, Cho-Oyu and Gychung Kang. Overnight at Gokyo.

Highest Point: 4790m

We trek to the foot of the Cho La Pass(5300m) for our overnight stay. We start to climb steeply on trails regularly used and easy to follow. We could be exposed to strong winds if we cross too late so we have to cross this pass early in morning. However, the problem may arise due to the altitude and snow. It often causes terrible problems to cross the pass if it is covered by snow. As you reach the top, you are rewarded by magnificent views, then we descend to the Zongla. Overnight at Zongla.

Highest Point: 4830m

A rather easier shorter trek route will take us to Loubche after 3 hours of trekking. This day walk along the Khumbu and Loubche glacier and up to Everest Base camp at 5365m the closest you can get to Mt. Everest without mountaineering equipment. One of the most rewarding days of treks is climbing Kala Patthar, a small peak at 5463 meters. We will likely be a team there to attempt the summit. The views of Khumbu Icefall from Base Camp are spectacular. We returned Back to Gorak Shep for the night. Overnight at Gorak shep.

Highest Point: 5140m

We get the most magnificent mountain panoramic of Everest, the highest point on the planet 8,848 meters tower directly ahead and on all sides loom the other giants, Nuptse, Pumori, Chagatse others. We make a quick descent to Dingboche, a tiny hamlet at 4410 meters. Overnight at Dingboche.

After having breakfast in Dingboche we take a slightly different route down to Orsho then Pangboche village. Here is the oldest monastery in the region which contains what is said to be the scalp and bones of a yeti, or abominable snowman. Leaving mountains behind us our descent takes us through the Tengboche Monastery at elevation of 3860 meters before continuing back to Namche Bazzar. Overnight at Namche.

Highest Point: 3440m

Finely we return to Lukla, which might seem like a lifetime ago. We ‘ll spend some time enjoying and reflecting on the treks as a group and the personal achievement of all those who took part. We also have some spare time to explore the town some more. Overnight at Lukla.

On your flight back to Kathmandu as you leave Lukla you can enjoy some last-minute glimpses of the mountains you just recently visited. Upon arrival Kathmandu, our airport representative will transfer you to your hotel from the airport. Overnight in Hotel Holy Himalaya at Kathmandu.

An amazing trip of Everest Fast Packing ends on this day. Himalayan Trail Running staff will drop you at the airport approximately 3 hours before your scheduled flight. Have a safe flight back!
